LMHB participates in Microsoft Innovation Day

Luiga Mody Hääl Borenius participated in the Microsoft Innovation Day conference organised to celebrate the ending of the Year of Innovation hosted throughout the past year. Similarly to the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, Estonian local municipalities and volunteers brought to life a Year of Innovation project to initiate new, different activities and behaviour, and to create an environment for exchange of ideas, innovations, and brainstorming in the challenging business climate.

This past year was also memorable and full of new operations for our office.

We were among the first law firms in Estonia to be awarded ISO 9001 quality management system certification. The certificate is a complementary acknowledgment of our internal quality management system reorganization as a result of which we now offer newly established fixed fee services in our corporate, corporate governance, employment, and tax practices. These provide clients with cost-efficient solutions to take care of their routine and daily corporate governance issues.

We also published the first “Intellektuaalne omand” handbook written by national authors and covering the essence of intellectual property protection and its principal characteristics. The handbook is compiled not only for professionals daily dealing with IPR matters but also for entrepreneurs in order to help them protect and increase their company’s intellectual property value.

Our specialists have spoken at various seminars and conferences on topical IPR matters including seminars at Ülemiste City, The Estonian Patent Office, Tartu Science Park, and Tallinn Business Incubators.

The track record of the past year covers advising on innovative venture capital investments conducted by the Estonian Development Fund. One assignment was advising on the investment in start-up company Massi Miliano, developing the fits.me brand that stands for robot mannequins aimed at leading international online retail clothing stores. We also advised the Estonian Development Fund on entering the shareholders’ circle of a company developing the United Cats and Dogs portal addressed to cat and dog owners internationally. Previous transactions where our specialists have been advising include the sale and purchases of the portals www.delfi.ee, www.osta.ee, www.kv.ee, www.auto24.ee, www.sekretar.ee, and www.odnoklassniki.ru.
