Our IPR specialists speakers at seminar held in Smart Business Center
The Smart Business Seminar hosted in Ülemiste City concentrated on the most important aspects of intellectual property and protection of copyrights, offering listeners practical guidelines for increasing and maintaining the value of company intellectual property.
With the ongoing Year of Innovation in Estonia and the increased number of inventions, new technologies, and unique projects, the issue of awareness of crucial aspects of intellectual property and proper protection of intellectual property is gaining in importance. Our speakers, senior associates Kairi Kurisoo and Viive Kaur, delivered their presentations in the inspiring surroundings of Smart Business City, which offers an innovative platform for developing and implementing newly invented solutions, software, and services.
Our IPR specialist Kairi Kurisoo gave a short overview of what intellectual property is, and what its main areas include, before introducing objects, protection, and infringement of copyright in more detail. Kairi also gave a short presentation on compiling service agreements with creative individuals for regulating the rights of various works.
Senior associate Viive Kaur explained the importance of trademark protection in her presentation, also explaining why use of domain name and business name only are not sufficient to protect entrepreneurs’ interests in their operations.
The seminar concluded with a practical case study introducing alternative possibilities on how corporate managers can run and lead their intellectual property portfolios and to help entrepreneurs consider crucial and legally binding aspects in order to avoid copyright disputes.
